Ah, John's era? Then Sandy Koufax (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sandy_Koufax) is probably your man. If you want to see who else is out there, this is the Baseball Prospectus (http://www.baseballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=3956) article listing the best curveball pitchers by acclaim and stats that I referred to.
I've read and enjoyed several Wincest fics after I exhausted the gen side of the fandom pretty quickly and found myself very meh on most Dean/Castiel, but most of the time I find myself skimming over the romance bits after a few thousand words to concentrate on the action/non-romantic plot, and most of them don't suffer too badly from that approach. It wouldn't have worked with your fic, but it didn't have to, because you actually made Wincest work, (and I think the formula from your author's note hit all of my comments). Not to mention awesome plot, characterization, and OCs. Did I mention my heart dropped into my stomach when the doctor told them she'd sent their fingerprints to the FBI? Yeah, I got a little involved. Good job.
