Oh, I just love this verse. Not just because poor wee!Sam keeps getting terrorized and beaten and all demoralized and confused, but that while John is a right bastard, he isn't a monster and you let enough of his real motivations slide through the Sammy filter to lend it some balance.

Very nice, can't wait to see more in this verse!
