Wow.....that was so incredibly painful and powerful. I was sucked in right from the start. I could feel Sam's frustration and hopelessness leaping off the screen, and when he ran away, I was scared for him, and actually hoping he'd manage to escape.

John is so far gone here. He has totally stopped seeing Sam as a child. As his son. Instead he's just a soldier.

And those whippings....Holy crap. Sam is a teenager and is gonna have bursts of emotion, and that kind of punishment for doing so is just crazy.

When Sam broke the crossbow I was like, 'Oh, fuck. He's gonna be skinned alive.'

I was just left feeling such a sense of desolation and hopelessness as this ended. Sam's pain was palpable.
