I didn't like Voyager, I guess I didn't enjoy the thought of all those people being lost forever or something. Being a good Star Trek fan, i did try watching it, and then again, and then again, and then one time after that. For some reason, I never felt the love. But I found a quote anyway.
But, there was one episode I remember to this day, and it had a quotable quote. The episode was called The Chute. In it, Kim and Paris are imprisoned in an alien jail. They are treated badly, so already the ep pressed my buttons, enough so that I would write one of my little 3x5 cards down to remember the moment. Anyway, what I recall is that Paris is out for the count, and all he's got standing between him and a gang of convict thugs is Kim, who, heretofore that moment, was a mild mannered ensign, who had absolutely no scars on his body, and who very likely still had his virginity. I love the idea of a sweet character who goes darkside when the moment is right.
Anyway, there's Kim all beaten and bruised, and standing over Kim's unconscious body with some sort of pipe. And he says, "He is my friend and no one touches him. No one."
I fell in love with Harry Kim at that moment, and out of loyalty to him, managed to watch a few more episodes of Voyager. I thought the whole series could have been more interesting if more people were able to show their darker sides, like Kim did. Alas.
