I don't honestly know if this was a time waster or an avoidance tactic or what.

All I know is, I spent a whole day early in February developing this arrangement of sticky notes to post on my wall that contained information about components of the story that I didn't want to forget. Problem is, once they're up on a wall, these sorts of things tend to become part of the scenery, and after a while I didn't notice them anymore! But it was an interesting exercise in what didn't work.

A - This first note is my attempt to figure out a title. Doing this early on doesn't help, because I always have to wait for the story to tell me what to call it. These titles are lame!

B - Sam's stories that he tells Dean were a concept that I thought would be cool to put in as a thread. And yes, Sam does tell Dean stories so it worked out just fine. But, this little sticky note was like a smack in the face every time I looked at it, because it remained blank from start to finish. Mocking me.

C - It was totally reasonable to think about occupations for the boys in a mental institution. I made my list, but the boys never mopped floors or painted wooden boards for the hospital to sell. I think I really did learn my lesson about having notes that weren't portable; these just stayed on the wall all the time!

D - I looked up everything that was bad about mental institutions. Only problem was, the only "bad" stuff was from the old days, when they did lobotomies on the fly because they wanted to. Modern hospitals don't let reporters in! I think I got it right, though, but I didn't use hydrotherapy.

E - This is a direct quote from Dira Surdis from when I asked her about writing Missing Persons. Isn't it marvelous?

February Themes

F - These were the ideas I wanted to include in the story. Most of them made it in one way or another.

G - Oh, never write with a highlighter!!! The real text I added below so it could scan. This was supposed to be a stronger theme in the story. It's there, but not as big an issue as I thought it would be.

H - You caught me. I am remarkably unversed in writing sex scenes! I put this sticky note up in the hopes that I would be inspired to populate it with sex scenes and positions. But like Sam's Stories, it was very intimidating. Hence the blankness.

February Themes
I - Dean's symptoms were fun to think about, but he never had nosebleeds or restless sleep or headaches! He did have some anxiety, tho. It's interesting to see how the story went its own way on this.

February Themes
J - If Dean was supposed to have symptoms, Sam was supposed to be a mess. Which he was, but not exactly like this.
