Yes, I was afraid a beating might be on its way after the tripping, because Sam was so freaked out he just *could not function*-- (which is, I think, what is so horrifying to me that the times when Sam royally screws up he really just isn't in complete control of himself, it's not like he *intends* to say all the wrong things)-- but you're right. A beating will hurt us all a lot more if there's a deceptive calm for a while.
*blinks* WHY AM I HELPING?
Then, ... this is his golden moment and Sam's screwing it up left and right, in spite of trying not to every minute of every day.
This also kills me dead about Sammy and his predicament. He's trying so fucking hard and nobody can see what a huge effort almost *everything* is for him, on the inside. They both just see a sulky, mouthy, (lazy?) kid. UGH! Puberty!!
And see? SEE? Sam is afraid John's gonna beat him over the blister, when that's not John's bag (much) at all. I contend that it would depend on Sam's attitude while doing it. :P HOWEVER, even though Sam is not afraid of his father, SAM IS AFRAID OF HIS FATHER. So there.
I don't remember why that was a point I thought was important to make. It just seemed like it was. I think maybe it had to do with breaking and breakingness, and John trying to measure just where the edge is. I don't know any more. I need to lie down.
In conclusion, yes, thank you for the box fans. And yes, I saw John use them both to make a flow of air through the boys' room, and know that this means he is still sleeping in the stifling heat. He is still a meanie who is mean, and I wish he would quit doing nice things. Only how I don't. You're both confusing me.
Hahahaha! I feel like Morticia Addams to Gomez- "..you were unhinged, you frightened me... Do it again." :P
