You ever notice how you get a taste in your mouth that's craving moon pies? Or spaghetti with butter? Or even just a cool dish of ice cream? Well, the same thing happens to me in fic, I want something specific, and craving it, go in search for it. This last week it was slavefic.
Don't ask me why, because I have no explanation. I just wanted stories where the characters are enslaved or trapped somehow, and they fall in love or are in love and bad things happen, and then they escape. And then they have sex!
Luckily, I had some old delicious tags for this, and so went through the first list, fairly quickly. It's a list done by a woman who is a born list maker, plus her lists are organized, it's a dream come true.

Which then leads to my original landing point, the list of slavefics.
(She has other useful guides and resources on her LJ, that'll I'll probably be visiting at some point, like how to do RSS feeds, and how to download, and a very intriguing link to Jane Austen resources.)
I wasn't interesting in anything not McShep, because I'm boring and limited that way, plus if I tried to read everything, I'd never leave for work!
I skimmed through the list, reading everything that was John/Rodney. Most of them weren't to my taste or didn't leave a positive effect. Some were too short to do the topic justice, but there are a few that stand out. They are:
In the City of Seven Walls by Auburn
"Gilded cages are still cages." John and Rodney are enslaved. Warnings for violence and non-con. John/Rodney. NC-17.
(Oh my GOD is this story good! I judge all slavefics by this one. One of my wallpapers is the graphic of John, kneeling, all bent over, with Rodney's drawings on his back. I've got both the soundtracks. I ruminate about this story endlessly, and admire her worldbuilding, and her sense of place, and the heat and bare feet on the stones. I wish they could have stayed there forever....but that's wrong, isn't it?)
When in Haldoria by Speranza
"Hey--Elton John wants his planet back!" John has to pretend to be enslaved to Rodney. John/Rodney. NC-17.
(This one was funny...and I prefer my slavfic dark, but it was a good read.)
The Human Condition by Alizarin_nyc
"The enslaved Atlantis team will have to work for their enlightenment." John/Rodney. R.
(Everyone's enslaved...and then they learn how to break free. I liked watching Rodney figure it out, to be free means to be happy, even if you have to fake it for a while. John's good at faking it, but not at faking happiness.)
The Gamers of Ardann by Lenore
"He'd tried to feel the gratitude she obviously expected, and felt guilty when that failed. But the past was a dark moon of memory, as if he'd appeared out of thin air, and there was nothing to measure anything against." John/Rodney. NC-17.
(They try to convince John that he's a farmer, an ex-farmer, and should be glad to be there, and Rodney that he's a consort. And then the two find each other and fall in love and escape!)
The Blade by Kellifer
"Someday, you will be sold... " John is trained as a slave, and sold to the House of McKay. John/Rodney. Adult.
(I liked watching John be a trained killer, whose only job is to protect Rodney. And then they have SEX.)

""You're telling me that you would sell your bodies for curiosity, orbital shielding, and a quarter-charged ZPM?" "Well, yeah. Who wouldn't?" Warning for non-con. John/Rodney, John/OFC, Rodney/OFC. NC-17.
(This was a joyful slavefic, if there could be anything of the sort....Rodney is owned by a smart sassy woman who mostly wants footrubs, John is owned by a petulant 20-something. Then Rodney saves the planet, and they are freed, and in the meantime, sex happens. Joyful, passionate sex.)
Fortuitous Night, Fated, Free by Mirabile Dictu
"You kidnapped me, Sah. I can hardly thank you for that." John is made a slave. John/Rodney. NC-17.
(I got sucked in...and have seldom read anything as lyrical and passionate as this, even though John's on his own. I plan on reading everything else by this writer that's McShep so that tells you something.)
I also determined after this that I can't read lists...I have to read rec lists. Otherwise, I'll be attempting to read everything, and with the amount of stories in this fandom, I'd be reading forever. Which isn't a bad thing, but the bills must be paid, and real life has its place.
