Yes! That was my point exactly, and I guess what I'm trying to explore is how/why I can't have any pity for John in this story when based on the comments so many people *have* had. Yes, I can see where John is conflicted here- it's not like he enjoys hurting Sam- but for me he just crossed the line so far that I can't see having any sympathy for him.
I think maybe it comes down to a degree of *how bad* did each reader personally take the beating, and John's comments to Sam. For me, this was no ordinary "belting", since it involved blood and welts and ripped clothing and an almost-inability to stand or walk.
And some folks have said they didn't really think John was out of bounds, given his mentality and their situation. I can't fathom that. I'm boggled. !?:)?
AND HOW CAN I WANT MORE OF THIS STORY??? BUT I DO!!! In fact, I want to see the scene of the next morning where John is by himself cleaning the blood off the seat of the Impala. Or, if that evil lovesrain44 wants to kill us some more, where John makes Sam clean the blood off the seat of the Impala.
Cuz, yeah, she'd do it... and so would this John! >:P
