Cemetary Pictures for Phantom Load

I love realism in my stories, so you bet there's a Valmont Cemetary and it's in sad shape, considering how historical it is. It's at the very top of a ridge at the edge of town, right next to Valmont Butte. Valmont Butte has been used for years for gravel and brick making and there used to be a brick making company right there too. I think now it's just where the gravel company is, where their trucks are parked and so on.

Valmont Butte is the remains of what used to be a volcano. You can see the white towers that hold the gravel, and the massive cement trucks. To the right of the volcano remains is a little ridge where the cemetary is.

Here is the side of the fence to Valmont Cemetary looking through barb wire. As you can see, it's pretty bleak up there on top of the ridge....

This is the corner of Valmont Cemetary, the gate's a little to the left, and believe it or not, my friends and I used to think this was the coolest graveyard in town!

Here's the official gate to the cemetary, which used to not be locked, but now always is.

Here's some images of headstones.

And last but not least is the fabulous view of the town of Boulder and the Flatirons from the corner of the cemetary fence. I really should have gotten this picture in the morning, so the sun would have been behind me, but I was lucky anyway, because the road leading up to the cemetary from Valmont is usually locked, and on that day it wasn't, so I had to take advantage while I could.

I love the idea of you sneaking around in the cemetary taking pictures!

It's all very cold, beautiful and lonely.

I was sneaking around, tis true! There's a gate at the bottom of the hill, and a sign that says, keep out or you will be shot, etc. So on that day, that ONE day, the gate was OPEN and I happened to have a camera with film. Lucky me. Yeah, I could have walked it, maybe it's 1/3 of a mile to the top, but if I got caught, it would have been hell to run down that snowy, rutted road to get away, esp with bullets flying over my head.

These pics, btw, are not quality, because I only just figured out how to upload with reduced size without reducing the sharpness!

The pics look good to me! I'm looking at your other pic posts now too.

You adventure reminds me of my cousins Billy and Jerry. They lived next door to Oak Lawn Cemetery and liked to play in there. The caretaker would threaten them with a shot gun loaded with rock salt, so no, I guess Dean didn't invent that!

They probably would have been more eager to get chase you out if you had been a teenaged boy with can of spray paint and a 6-pack. Women can get away with a lot of things teenaged boys can't!

Have fun, dear!

Yeah, I remember rock salt! Farmers used to threaten to use it all the time. I never knew one that actually did. : D

And definately, looking like a nice lady, and looking rather demure and serious has it's perks. They have no idea what I'm planning to do with the images! (This is where the body is buried...this is where they dig him up...this is where they light him on fire...etc. Ha!)

It's fascinating to see how well you research and document your cases, SAMMY!

I am lame because I couldn't quickly find a picture of John that you'd probably not already seen! I'll be ready next time!
