Been Kripked!!! Spoilers under the cut...
So I've been Kripked. Or at least I think I have, if I understand the meaning of the term, which is, I wrote a story, and now, one of the upcoming eps has that exact SAME plot!!! Or at least a really similar one.
Here's my story synopsis:
Phantom Load
Dean and Sam return to Boulder, CO, where they investigate a haunted school. The job seems simple enough to Sam, who has good, although vague, memories of living in Boulder back in 1992, when John Winchester rented a single-wide trailer, and the boys were able to walk home from school together. Dean, however, has altogether different memories, far less pleasant and far more damaging. It's during the investigation that Sam discovers the secret that Dean doesn't realize he's been hiding.
(Basically the boys go back to Dean's Jr. High school, to check out reports that it's haunted. And of course the story is about more than just the solving of the case.)
And here's what Padalecki has to say about ep 4.13:
"JP: Um, and so it’s really cool and then episode 11 was kind of a crazy, scary house out in the woods you know where a family tries to go and try and fix the family problems and then people start vanishing and disappearing. Um, episode 13 Sam and Dean go back to one of the schools they went to growing up because there’s been a haunting or a demon and they have to figure out what’s going on. We’re actually going to see some of high school Sam and Dean in episode 13.
HOST : That’s awesome.
JP: Yeah I just read the script again today and really cool man, alot of really cool moments and alot of things I think the audience is gonna like. When I read those episodes where you go back and see young Sam and Dean, I get really excited about that. I’m like “Oh cool! I can’t wait, yada yada.” So I think the audience will like it too. [And] we also learn more about Sam and Dean’s past,we get to go back and see them in high school so it’s really cool."
It's just really cool! Or not, depending on how you look at it. Either I could be really pissed or really flattered. But seriously, the idea of them going back to a school they used to go to because it's haunted? How common is that? I thought it was pretty unique, and had not read any fanfic on that particular subject. But I could be wrong, there could be tons and mine is just one among many.
Here's the link the whole interview, nicely transcribed:

The particular subject matter of the boys returning to a former high school has been touched on in fanfic already- not many that I know of but there has been...
one of my favs besides PL that deals with it is episode 20 of Supernatural.tv's virtual season 2 where exactly what Jared describes in the interview happens ;) http://www.supernaturalville.com/s2/unfinished/unfin1.htm
it's basically a standalone episode so you don't have to read the entire season to understand what's going on

I'm a sucker for flashbacks too, and am really looking forward to this ep.

I think that this ep is going to be my all time favorite just because of the flashbacks! :D

It's not only that the written word can do more is that the fanfic writers are willing to do more. Push the envelope and stuff. But then, they have no filters, no one telling them they can't.

Anyway, I'm interested.

I'm not that happy with kid that played young Dean and i'm actually dread to see new teen Dean but i like young Sam very much :)

I also love the Dean that they use, I've grown rather fond of him. Why don't you like him?

Yes, he'll be back and i'm excited about that ep. I saw his recent pics - he looks good!
Why don't you like him?
I was ok with him but in 308 i didn't like how he played one important scene - that's my only complain :) I'm not fond of him - not my type i suppose (gawds, i'm no perv i didn't mean it in sexual way).

Turns out I didn't get Kripkied as much as I figured, still, it was kinda strange, you know? I'm glad you liked the story, too, that makes me feel very happy. Thank you.

Anyway, "coach Dean" was definitely the highlight of the episode for me! ;) But srsly, I had written a post @ my LJ earlier. Part of it explained why I didn't like this episode. In a nutshell, I feel I didn't learn anything new from this episode about the brothers I didn't already know. Worse, I feel it simplified Dean, reduced a very multi-layered character to a two-dimensional caricature.
Perhaps it's partly Jensen's fault too. For he brought to life a character with such depth that it ruined any other actor's portrayal (of the character) for me. So no offense to Brock Kelly's fans, it's entirely my personal opinion that his Dean is but a pale surface imitation of the real Dean.
I also had an issue with the way the two younger brothers were casted. Their size difference was so incongruent (with canon) that it became a distraction to me. The actor who played young Sam, despite being really good at acting, was unconvincing to me to be old enough to go to high school.
So there you have it -- my qualm about this episode.
p.s. I just learned from reading the recent LA Con reports that Jensen mentioned the writer for this episode was new. That actually made a lot of sense to me. No wonder I felt the voices/interactions of the two brothers in flashback seemed off somehow.
Btw, I read this story of yours a second time. It was just as good if not more so than the first time!
