Boys will be boys. And they're on the road all the time, in close quarters. Sharing a room, or bed when there's not enough room. It's bound to happen. I don't read it much though, cause I'm picky about it. Like, I also tend to think Sam's the one that started it, when he was sixteen or seventeen-ish. I can't see Dean starting it, he'd be too conflicted. But I see Sam starting it and even though Dean'd be confused and conflicted about it, he'd never refuse Sam anything.
OMG I KNOW! A Very Supernatural Christmas, GOD. That's one of those times I picture them taking things slow and sweet. Just because it was one of those MOMENTS. It was special. Everything was perfect. That's also the episode that in my eyes just screamed "OMG DEAN/SAM IS CANON!" with the whole, you know, NECKLACE that Dean HAS NEVER TAKEN OFF EVER being a gift from SAMMY. Hee~ so. very. canon.
John dying was definitely a HUGE turning point for the boys. They were both SO broken and needed each other so bad. I think that's definitely a huge emotional shift there, especially when Dean's walls finally come down and he lets Sam see just how broken Dean really is. Not that Sam didn't know already (because Sam knows Dean better than anybody and he even said so), but Dean finally let him see it openly.
Have you read, "To Wish For Impossible Things?" That one starts off with the most erotic scenes...I'll find you a link if you haven't heard of it. It does go on a bit longish...but the beginning is hot and realistic. I also have, um, some rec lists of other people for underage, some of which is so realstic, the fic convinces me of the whole matter. Will post to you this evening if you would like. Because yeah, close quarters, isolation, and nuthin' else to do....I see them messing around big time. (And oddly, am not alone in this....have you seen the numbers? The underage scenario is winning!)

The look of love, esp in Dean's eyes - right then and there, and I wondered why the hell Sam was sitting all alone on that huge green couch....well, it wasn't huge, but Sam's sitting there with his arm along the back and there is JUST enough space for another warm body to sit down beside him...and what with eggnog with a kick and all. Yeah. And then they had sex, the end.
Sometimes the question comes up as to who initiated (that's a poll for another week!) but I think you are right, part of it is Sam seeing it and the other part is Dean letting him see. WHich he did, when Dad died, becuase he was so damn lonely. Sam better not run off is all I can say!!!!

I haven't heard of that fic, no. Honestly, I don't read much fanfic anymore. I couldn't keep up with fandom, lol. And yeah, I was surprised how many people are all for the underaged wincest. I'd thought there weren't as many people into it.
